D is very solid, freshman Kemp will challenge for PT. Irish need a finisher.

0% chance Kemp sees the field next year. He will red-shirt and have 4 years ahead of him. Why in the world would you bench Rogers who patiently waited for his turn for three years behind J.Kemp and then stepped up in a BIG way when the opportunity was given to him.

Most people don't realize Rodgers has another year of eligibility, since unlike other schools we do not technically "redshirt," we only grant a fifth year if the athlete either graduates in four years and is entering grad school or there are some extenuating circumstances that made him have to graduate in five years. No five year undergrad program (unless they're architecture). So while he was listed everywhere as a senior, he will likely come back next year (his choice though...maybe he is doing something else with his life?)

Even if he is good enough to come in and grab 1st team AA honors...we already have a goalie poised to do that...

I hope he is better than Rogers...but the odds of that right out of the gate are slim to none.

Seems like a no-brainer to me. As long as the freshman is ok with red-shirting you might as well have a AA type goalie for the next 5 years, rather than just 4.

Scott Rodgers will come back as he had the best save % of all goalies in D1, enjoyed the members of the team and coaches, was a 3rd team AA, is motivated for the Big East and will work with young Kemp like his brother worked with him. College goalies like Rodgers seek the big stage and ND goalie is strong enough to drag this team along with him. Young Mr. Kemp will have his day!

He is really good, and I've seen him play several times this year. But the kid I'm here to talk about is Quinn Cully from Duxbury, MA. A middie (and a tight end on a State Champion football team last fall), he had six goals in a 13-12 victory yesterday as Duxbury won their sixth consecutive Div.1 lax championship. "He was a man among boys"' his coach said.

You guys got a couple of studs coming your way next fall.

Here are four frosh coming to the new Arlotta Field @ ND this fall. Remember the names: Cully, Cotter, Kimball (sp?) and Murphy. All four are middies and should create PT for themselves within The Big East schedule. Good luck to them as they team up with other middies Brenneman, Earl and Krebs.
New field, Corrigan finally getting his wishes to be in the Big East and make it the best league in D1 in record time!

Yes. Construction is scheduled to be completed this summer, if it isn't already.

Any thoughts about Corrigan to Princeton? Doesn't he have very strong ties to ND {father, brother, etc?} His name is mentioned as being in the mix at PU, which makes sense {his name being in there as qualified and potentially a good fit}. I've also heard rumors to the effect that he really wants it. Don't know if there's any merit to that. I would assume that the ND fans want him to stay in South Bend. Any thoughts/comments?

after seeing all 4 under armour goalies, i thought that kemp had the best game, he and niko amato (maryland) were the two best, he being slightly better than niko. he made a couple up close saves, two in a row on shots right on the crease in the early minutes of the game. good, long, accurate outlet passes too. i was impressed with cotter's size, i can't remember if he scored or not but he looked very quick with his dodge, nice wheels and a big hard shot. i believe murphy scored a goal taking it to the rack after winning the face off. most of the north team's face-offs were taken by tyler knarr (georgetown) who did well, and it looked like murphy did well when he was given the chance.

all three players played pretty well at the game, none totally dominant though. i could see cotter and murphy challenge for playing time. cotter could have an advantage because of his size. it would smart to redshirt kemp, give the freshmen a year to practice with and learn from scott rodgers who could be the top goalie in the nation next year.

Notre Dame 2010

New postby RudyFan on Thu Aug 06, 2009 4:18 pm

New field is coming along quite well. Should be nearly done by Labor Day but definitely by Columbus Day as the Irish host the Iroquois National Team on 10/16/09 in the afternoon. The next day late AM, the new field is being dedicated with an alumni game before the ND vs USC football game. Now that should draw some people to the new field!!!
Facility expects to be top notch (thanks alumni and football $$$).

Who will be on the schedule for ND other than BE teams? Will have to find a replacement for NC game. Unsure if Orange or Hoyas are home or away but ... Loyola, Buckeyes and Denver are still on, I believe.
