Bucknell 2010

Bucknell 2010

New postby Laxman16 on Wed Jul 01, 2009 6:52 pm

Saw this on the Colgate forum.

"With Lehigh , HC , and Lafayette climbing quickly , Bucknell having the recruiting class of the decade , and Navy and Army lurking for revenge , could spell and interesting fall for 'Gate and it's faithful."

Any insight on the incoming freshman class at Bucknell?

Is Menzies grad & gone ? ...saw conflicting reports.

Who's likely to fill Mele's attack spot ? 09 middies Streep, Danylyshyn, Palmer, Eisenreich all listed as attack on 09 roster.

The class that just graduated is gonna be a big loss for Bucknell:
Cooke - Starting wing middie
Mele - 4 yr starter at attack, PL ROY (2006)
Haire - 4 yr starter at defense, PL DPOY (2009)
Antonelli - Split time the last 2 years in the cage
Izard - Started at Def the last 2 yrs
Sciubba - Starter in the cage for most of the last 2 seasons, PL GOY (2009)
Menzies - 1st line midfield. 1st team all PL.

have not heard anything about the incoming class.
You'd be in great shape if you ran like your mouth

I think they'll reload on offense, no sweat. It'll be interseting to see how Streep's used. Lots of versatile, returning middies who can score, as attackmen or middies. Danylyshyn could be have a Streep-like breakout year - he looked ready in the PL Tourney. 2 big holes to fill on closeD.

I was at Bison Brawl. Here's what I could tell.

Kyle Feeney - Very talented all-american goalie. Tall and athletic in goal and smart with the ball.
Chase Bailey - Great stick skills. Excellent around the crease. Finisher.
Mike Fuentes - All defenders were excellent. I may be getting the two Mikes mixed up but I believe this kid was extremely aggressive and quick with the stick. He could also run.
Ronjohn Dadd - Ball handler, liked to control flow, quarterback type. Had quite a few goals.
Kyle O'Keefe - I believe he was the face off middie number 7. Big strong kid. Won most face offs and then could finish or feed as well.
Mike Huffner - All defenders I saw there were excellent. I am not sure but I think this kid was Very fast with a good stick.
Billy Mattimore - Very intelligent player. Left hander. Excellent feeder. He could finish as well.
Dylan Burke - I believe he was the big guy of the group. Strong. Pushed people around. Also saw him fake low and go high on a shot during practive 4 on 3's so he's got a stick.

I may have gotten a few of the descriptions above mixed up or may have missed somebody. Please feel free to correct me. All in all looks like a great group. They really started playing well together by the third game. They swept the Bison Brawl camp but, obviously, competition will be greater in the Fall against season D1 players.

Kyle Feeney out of Greenwich HS might have a shot at goalie as a freshman.

Hey XTC-

You might have the guys mixed up. At Bison Brawl, #7 was Wills Miller, and # 8 was Kyle Okeefe, attackman. Otherwise your scouting is right on. Any word on who the Bisons will play next year?

Bucknell lost two Under Armour All Americans that had given verbal committments to the school, then later elected to attend different universites, that certainly would have changed the outlook for this class.

Tucker Durkin from LaSalle is one, he's going to Hopkins now, but who was the other?

Not sure how much the loss of these kids would have changed the outlook for the 2010 class. Despite the lack of scholarships, Bucknell continues to attract high caliber players. Durkin would have been a nice addition but they have a talented group of kids coming in at all positions. This class should make a real impact.

Any word from Lewisburg on how practice has been going and how the freshman class looks? Fall ball is right around the corner.

Kid Scoscia from Summit, NJ. Decommitted and took offer from Notre Dame. Not good but then again not sure he will play with the kids incoming that will be ahead of him there.

Teenagers do indeed change thier minds now and again.....coaches continue to recruit players even after they are verbally green lighted somewhere else.....some what to go to the big school and see 100,000 people at a football game....others may look at the depth chart and determine greener grass lies elsewhere....Bucknell continues to recruit an excellent mix of student/athletes....they will win some in the recruiting wars....and lose some....just like everyone else.....but I can tell you this....it's fun to be part of the Herd. Should be a very good Patriot League season this year.....hopefully Shirley has recovered.... :D
