Re: Lafayette 2010
I saw a scrimmage the other day. Lafayette lost some key defensive guys, but I thought they looked pretty good in that department as the younger guys are stepping up. Goalies looked good too, which is a big spot to fill with the loss of Jeff Canfield. The Leopards return a ton of offensive guys. They should score a lot this year. Looking forward to seeing who they play outside of the Patriot League.

Yeah, they seem to have most of their scorers back. They also were able to get an AA from Darien who could contribute right away when healthy. Looking forward to the schedule coming out. It would be nice to have a little stronger SOS this spring.

Re: Lafayette 2010
Any predictions on the upcoming games against Detroit-Mercy and Saint Joseph's? How will Lafayette do against these members of the MAAC? I think they'll end up splitting games with a win against UDM and a loss to Saint Joseph's.

Just found the schedule on the school website. Think the team will be strong this year. They should build on last years upswing, some new freshman talent to help fill some graduation spots.I hear a new assistant coach.Anyone have any information of him?

Re: Lafayette 2010
It's good they were able to add a couple of games to their schedule and with quality opponents.
Don't know much about the new assistant. Press release indicates he graduated from Dickinson in 2007 and was an assistant at Marywood the last two seasons. He apparently handle the D and FO for them.

The Detroit-Mercy lax website says the Pards won 16-8 and the St. Joseph's thread here indicates LC won that one 15-10.

Re: Lafayette 2010
I was only marginally keeping score, but I thought Lafayette won the St. Joe's game a little more decisively. I believe it was 12-4 at the half. The Leopards definitely have an offense with a ton of returning players who can score. Lots of weapons. They looked good at the X and if they can continue to succeed at FO into the spring season, they will compete with anyone on their schedule. After losing some big contributors on D to graduation, they look like they have the numbers to fill those shoes. They simply need to continue to work hard as a unit for the D to gel. With 12 seniors, there is a lot of leadership there, especially on offense. They made all the extra passes which was very impressive. This was fall ball and there will be much tougher teams to face in the spring, but this will be an exciting team to watch. Good luck Leopards!

From the Rutgers 2010 thread, it looks like the Leopards will travel to New Brunswick on Sunday to scrimmage the Scarlet Knights. Good to get in some extra work.

EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette men's lacrosse attackman Tom Perini has been named to the Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-America list, as announced this morning by InsideLacrosse.com.
Perini, who led the country last year in goals per game, was named honorable mention and was one of only two Patriot League members (Austin Winter - Bucknell) to garner recognition.
The Huntington, N.Y. native comes into his junior year with 66 career goals. His 39 tallies in his sophomore season were an integral part of Lafayette's 2009 campaign that saw it finish in a tie for fourth in the Patriot League standings.
"It's certainly great that Tommy is recognized as one of the top players in the country," head coach Terry Mangan said. "It's a great honor and very well-deserved. However, if you asked Tommy, I'm sure he's more concerned with our team reaching its goals than his individual recognition."

Any news on the scrimmages vs. Hartford and Rutgers?

Re: Lafayette 2010
The scrimmages versus Hartford and Rutgers were a mixed bag for the Leopards yesterday. They played 2 twenty minute running clock halves against Hartford. The offense looked pretty crisp. The score was 9-4 I believe, with offensive contribution from a variety of different players. They went up quickly 7-2, and they looked better than the score indicated. They played 3 20-minute halves against Rutgers. It was 1-0 after the first, and then 5-0 I think after the second. Lafayette had problems with face-offs and clearing and had virtually no offensive possession time. They kind of started figuring Rutgers out by the third period. I think the final was 7-3. After losing some key defensive players to graduation, I thought they played very well on D. Vinny D. looked very comfortable in goal, had some nice saves and good outlet passes to start transition, but they have a little work to do moving the ball from there. Rutgers has a strong D. I think they are going to give some people trouble.

Both schools' websites have it down as a scrimmage. Hopefully both teams use it as an opportunity to improve and tune things up in time for their respective openers. Wouldn't take too much to heart regarding final results tho.

Re: Lafayette 2010
Thanks. Didn't realize it was a scrimmage. Last week it wasn't down as a scrimmage on the SJU website. I'm glad it is a scrimmage as SJU needs some more time on the field before the first game.
