Great article and full of truths that live on.

I can list the names of many coaches I played for, but the three or four who stand out all taught me far more about life and how to live than I ever learned about soccer, basketball or lacrosse. Great coaches mold kids into adults. I started to write boys into men and realized that one of the things I've learned as a coach is that coaching and teaching is gender-blind.

Love of the game; love of sport; growth of the individual; and the power and value of team and team culture are universal goals of coaching. If you are successful in those, I believe winning is the natural outcome.
