Packed roster for the Sho'men:

Great to see the Shoremen on the way back with a roster like that. Nice stadium and enthusiastic fans.

We need a close game against the Gulls and then move WOTS back to the end of April.

Some good players on the roster too. A handful of top players from the MIAA "B" league in recent years.
Excited to see how these kids develop.

Some good lacrosse resumes. I think Grieves won a MIAA B title then played D 1 for a year. In recent years past these kids would have gone to Salisbury.

The 2014 NC semi was a night game in Salisbury. Well played game by two very disciplined teams. Nice walk by at he end. Huge difference from the WAC - Stevenson quarter final game. Not sure the coaches even shook hands at the end.

You never know how these kids develop, but those MIAA kids looked good the few times I saw them.

Full roster this season with returning starters at every position from attack, middie, defense and goal and young players at every position pushing starters for a role. Grieves played last year for the Shoremen. Was instrumental in the 2017 Washington and Lee upset with 2 goals and 4 assists. Should be an interesting spring in Chestertown.

Does anyone know who won during fall ball UMW vs WAC and some analysis of the game?

WAC won but hard to draw many conclusions from this game. Last years starting attack took a backseat so coaches could see what else they have. D and goalie were solid. #46 seemed to be playing midfield instead of attack. Coach might be looking to balance the scoring. Most of the goals came from the attack last year. Need midfield to score more to create openings for the attack. 2 100 point scorers return for their senior year. Hopefully they pick up where they left off last year.

on a 3 game losing streak and missing the conference tourney? the WOTS game was 14-1. let's hope they don't pick up where they left off, lets hope for much better.

I know Casey is Dickie's kid. Too funny if that's Tommy Gaines' kid as well.

Looks like another disappointing season is in store. This is a bad loss. W&L looked improved, but a previously 0-3 W&L should not be a hard takedown. Given the extremely weak out of conference schedule, WAC either needs to run the table in the Centennial or is essentially already out of contention from an at large bid. Bummer. To go from 2013 and 2014's teams to this hurts. Hope WAC figures it out.

Top 2 scorers(100+ points) from last 2 years didn't seem to see the field much if at all in the second half. WAC only scored 4 in the second half (0 in third qtr) so maybe they could have used them. Only ran 1 set of midfield as well. Didn't see much of preseason honorable mention all-american midfielder either. Doesn't seem to be a way to win. Centennial conference play will not be pretty if they don't do better.

Washington and Lee is better than their record indicates. They have very good attack and excellent off ball movement. It was only a matter of time before they put it together. The Shoremen looked ok in the first half but the rotation of players is not efficient and it seems the coaches are still trying to figure out who their starters should be. At some point you have to say these are my guys and stick with them the whole game.

Too many unforced turnovers, shots on goal are not being redirected, players are shooting high to high or low to low making it easy for the opposing goalie to see the ball. We lost too many loose ball situations and W&L was able to clear the ball too easily. If we are going to use a 33 ride we need to leave the farthermost guys from the ball open and play the middies and attack between the lines tighter, almost man to man shadowing them to deny them the easy clear at the midfield line. I saw more bounce passes in this game then I have all last season. W&L has a good Lacrosse IQ!

The bottom line is the coaches have to trust their players when they cross the chalk and let them play. Way too much thinking and second guessing going on at this stage of the season. There is still a lot of lacrosse to play so let's not get discouraged yet.

Very sloppy game by the Shoremen over St Mary's. Can't play that way in conference games.

Score: 20-4. 16/27 FOs. 20 goals/56 shots. 5/6 man up. 1/7 man down. 39 GBs. 15/18 on clears. I did not see the game. How was it a sloppy performance? Can you elaborate? Is this based on 7 penalties and 14 turnovers?

Too many turnovers and penalties. I can see why a certain 100 point scorer isn't getting play time. He doesn't start, gets into the game and literally 30 seconds later gets an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for mouthing off to a ref. That is undisciplined and sloppy. And it wasn't the only one. There were at least 3 unsportsmanlike conduct fouls for players talking to refs.

That will not get it done in CC play.

veryoldgoose, the player you are referring to told the ref the opposing player threw his stick out of bounds which you can clearly see in the video. The opposing playing then swore and the ref thought it was the WAC player. I was at that end of the field to hear the whole thing. I also heard the ref apologize to the player later in the game when they were talking during a stoppage in play.

The other penalties were deserved.

The stats don't look that bad but the Shoremen had plays where they probably would have lost the ball against a better team instead of getting it back. Defense was good but on the otherhand the St Mary's offense was not very good. Frostburg will be a good test but the real test will be in conference play.
