Matt Lanigan, was posted awhile ago on the recruits page. Hopefully he can help solidify the goal position. There's also a freshman Owen Taylor who looks promising as well...They need to know who the go to guy will be by the end of fall ball. Like to see these guys perform in the VMI game

Not much promotion as in years past for the W&L - VMI contest next week...is this an effort at political correctness? Anyone with projections for a starting lineup. Will we see goal play by committee? If so, like to hear how Owen Taylor and Matt Lanigan fare. Lots of options on attack with only Witherell as a lock, 2 and 3 spots could be Dardani, Zusi A/M? , Boxley, DuPont,Ware, Weaver or perhaps freshman Mulholand vying for the other two spots...some of these guys could bump up to midfield. Curious to see who makes it back from injuries last season. The team 10-7 underachieved last season despite scoring 15.6 goals while shooting 32%, 50% on extra man and a very favorable 62% on faceoffs...save percentage was 50% and at times was dramatically worse...Gennies need to cash in while they have a player like Witherell for two more seasons

Goalie decision will be interesting. Dardani has to be the second A, he and Witherell worked so well together. Third spot unclear. Zusi ran M last year doesn't seem like an A. Mulholland also a M I hear.

Dardani is fine but could certainly be challenged. Zusi and Mulholand I believe could play both positions. Any word on players that were out do to injuries last year and may be back this season to contribute. I'm thinking of Kris in particular, thought he could have contributed immediately. Any freshman that have stood out early??? Biggest improvement usually is freshman to sophomore year, interesting to see how last season's freshman progress. Toughest position as a freshman is midfield and I thought all the freshman mids last year did very well so expect a lot this year from them.Hope fall ball ends with a clear cut favorite for the cage

For some reason, W&L never does much advanced marketing on the L-J game, other than signs in Lexington.

Always interesting who plays and how much, there are often some upperclassmen who are off campus in the fall. I have been to a bunch of these in the past, playing time in October does not always translate to playing time in February.

Generals "win" 20-12. W&L jumped out to a 7-1 lead after 1 quarter and didn't look back.

Witherell, Dardani and Weaver started at attack. Atkins started in the net and only allowed three.

Late arriving crowd last night. Face paced game, lots of husstle on both sides. Always great to see VMI Cadets getting into lacrosse. Six of VMI's starters are from VA. Generals have plenty of youth.

I wasn't there and don't have a roster.

From folks at the game Atkins appeared to perform better in goal, giving up 3 goals in one half of work. It was W&L 10-3 at the half.

Atkins clearly better on Friday night. Made a number of tough saves.

I was at the first half. Both teams played hard and fast. W&L was very accurate with their shooting, VMI not so much, so Aikins did look better in the first half when W&L had "normal starters" in the game. Second half, I was told the Generals substituted liberally so that would affect things and VMI shots were more on goal. I know in the first half, VMI did a better job on FOs than W&L initially then things evened out in the 2nd period. I have a picture of the roster but laxpower says it's too big to upload. Will try again. Good to see another Corrigan in Lexington. Have great memories of Gene, and his sons Kevin and Brian, when he was AD.

Generals will also have former Brown goalie and Gilman grad Matt Chriss helping them on the sidelines as a volunteer assistant. Hopefully will help strengthen what hopefully is a stronger crop of goalies this year.

Will Atkins ( Soph) goalie from St Albans... not surprised if he winds up stepping into the cage .

Dylan Anderson interesting recruit at 6'2" 225, listed as a d man or lsm. His stick skills are a bit raw but certainly has some size...Maybe Some intensive wall ball, bring his stick skills up and run him at midfield, eventually maybe another Perella or better in the making?
