Any thoughts on the 3 SAA games today ? BSC, Rhodes, and Sewanee, all will figure in the Coference playoffs. With the injury of the Sewanee players does this open the door for another Conference title for Rhodes and MAYBE an AQ to a post season game ? :confusion-shrug:

It's so bad right now for Sewanee that the first quarter isn't even over and the people running the webcast can't even bear to put up the score. 9-0, Illinois Wesleyan. The team does not ever hesitate to pull the trigger. Big, fast, strong, overwhelming athletes. Shot selection is an afterthought. 19 first quarter shots total, 12 on cage, 9 have gone in. Tigers need to slow this muthah DOWN.

BSC beats CUW 11-7 (basically 11-5 CUW had two garbage time goals)

Berry plays CUW next

Sewanee lost big to Illinois Wesleyan 22-13. I have yet to watch Illinois Wesleyan play, but I have taken note of their box scores the past 3 season and they regularly put up 17+ goals. I imagine they play at a relentless pace.

Hendrix plays Debueqe later today

Well 3 games in the SAA slated for tomorrow. Berry, Hendrix and Oglethorpe all step on the field, alas I think only Berry comes away a winner. Let's just hope the quality of play is better for Hendrix and the Stormy Petrals of Oglethorpe.

IWU has some kids that can shoot the lights out of the ball. They play incredibly high paced and take shots upon shots upon shots. They had the highest scoring offense per game last year, averaging 21.6 GPG, and I wouldn't be surprised if they stay there. IWU plays Christopher Newport later today, so that result may shed a light on Berry vs Sewannee.

HDX beats Dubuque 10-2, loses yesterday 16-8 to Southern Virginia. They kept it within reach until the 4th.

Conference play starts tomorrow. Nothing else really matters now.

My conference rankings going into conference play

1. Berry
2. Rhodes
3. Birmingham-Southern
4. Sewanee
5. Hendrix
6. Centre
7. Oglethorpe

Berry is my number 1 right now because they have the most impressive win in the conference (15-13 W over Aurora and a close 10-9 loss to Christopher Newport)

BSC over Sewanee right now because of their record and a better head to head win over Southwestern. They play tomorrow so we will see if this sticks or not.

Hendrix is above Centre because of a comparative game vs Huntingdon, and they have a decent win over Dubuque.

It is still the top 6 teams that move on into the play-offs isn-t it ? Is there any news on Millsaps coming back, or any news schools thinking of joining the SAA ?

Well hello Conference play, Sewanee travels down to BSC, for a very critical game. I'm leaning towards BSC, due to the injuries at Sewanee, but it could go either way.

Berry v Rhodes tomorrow at 3pm in Memphis. Should be a glimpse of what the top of the conference (regular season) will look like.

Hendrix welcomes Oglethorpe in for a visit. :violin:
At the other end of the spectrum, Berry and Rhodes get together for a game that has us SAA fans wondering. I'm leaning Rhodes on this one, especially at home. Berry has been playing well, at I see the game being decided in the 4th quarter, and by 3 or less, either way. Diffenitly one to catch this afternoon, 3pm their time. :handgestures-thumbup:

Rhodes blasts Berry 12-6. It was never closer than 3 after the first quarter. As well balanced and clean a game as Rhodes has played all season

Nice game by Rhodes, couldn't find stats yet but they may appear later. Score board says it wasn't that close. Berry could only match Rhodes's output in the second half. So can BSC, or Sewanee trip up Rhodes in Conference play ?

Actually, it was 12-7. Rhodes dominated in every facet. Had Berry put more shots on cage (missed a ton 6” high or wide) it could have been closer. The Lynx played with confidence and made a few personnel changes on man up that reaped rewards.
Some of the assisted goals were phenomenal! it
was as high a level of D3 lacrossse as you’ll ever see south of the Mason-Dixon Line. If Rhodes played this inspired against Muhlenberg they’d be undefeated.

You do realize that Virginia AND Maryland are south of the Mason-Dixon line, right?

Think DingDong meant the states, not the schools... so Roanoke, Lynchburg, Salisbury, Stevenson, etc., etc...

Even so I think the sentiment was that the quality of play in the “non traditional” Deep South (which I wouldn’t include MD or VA, both being more “traditional hot beds”)is improving and the berry/Rhodes game showed that.

Still be a long time if ever before any Deep South team competes with the elites ( north or “south” ) but undeniable directional improvement.

Considering I attended UVa and UNC, I do understand where the Mason-Dixon Line is. That was purely in reference to D3...

Having attended both UVA AND UNC, you must be really smart and therefore realize that Salisbury, Stevenson, Roanoke, and Lynchburg all play better lacrosse on their off-days than what is played in the SAA.
