I thought the Cortland Platt game was going to be a lot closer. Looks like I was wrong...

Cortland seems to be clicking on all cylinders at the right point in the season. I think they have very slim chances to get by Wesleyan but I thought the same thing about the St. Lawrence game last year...

Overall, it was a definite down year for the SUNYAC.

Good luck to Cortland on Wednesday.

No doubt. That's the best I have seen Cortland look in years.

Conversely, Plattsburgh came out flat like they have the past couple of games and Cortland took full advantage of all of the Plattsburgh miscues.

I'll say this, if the Cortland that played Plattsburgh last Saturday shows up vs. Wesleyan that will be a heck of a game.

Looks like Cortland-Wesleyan was a close battle. Stats were fairly even. Looks like a 5 goal scoring run spanning the 2nd and 3rd quarters by Wes was the difference in the game.

Too bad Cortland got matched up against Wesleyan in the first round, I felt they were peaking at the right time of year.

Well that one brings the 2018 SUNYAC season to an end. It was a fun one.

SUNYAC teams were released yesterday. Congrats to all the guys that made it.

Yes Booze, the Cortland-Wesleyan game was a close battle according to all stats except one - faceoffs. Wesleyan won 2/3 of faceoffs, and I think that was the difference. Cortland was also a little sloppy on their clears, but faceoffs was the main difference.

The face-off wins didn't lead to similarity disparities in other statistical categories, so they didn't have a huge effect.

In this case, Wesleyan held small advantages in shots (43-39) and S.O.G. (27-25), and won the game by four. To account for a 16-12 goal advantage, one must assume either Wesleyan was either a little luckier than Cortland (possible but not likely), the Wesleyan goalie had a much better day (more likely), or Wesleyan created higher quality shots due to talent/execution (most likely).

Good luck to Wesleyan in the next round.

Does anyone know when was the last time Cortland didn't win at least 1 NCAA playoff game?

Looking at their history, it looks like 2001 was the last time that they didn't win at least 1 playoff game Platty. Cortland loses a lot of seniors but this was a poor season by Cortland standards, maybe some fresh faces will help? I'm sure they have plenty of young guys ready to go, but next year will be an important year for Cortland if they want to remain a national "power"

I have no explanation for Cortland's 2018 season. They returned almost every player from a 17-3 2017 team that made the NCAA quarterfinal round, plus added a key OCC transfer at midfield, and yet the 2018 team didn't come close to matching what the 2017 team accomplished. I'd really like someone to explain it to me.

Looks like SUNY New Paltz is getting a Men's Lacrosse team for the 2019-2020 season....Does anyone know if they will be competing in the SUNYAC??

New Paltz location could definitely play a role in recruiting good talent from the island...

Would also be nice to see a Buff State team in the next few years or so as well...

Having played on the team for Ed VanTine when they HAD Men's lacrosse - I would love to see Buff State reload Men's Lacrosse.

In fact I spoke with the AD there about exactly this last year and I spoke with the New Paltz AD as well.
