As an outsider to the program/area, but someone who follows the sport, I've always wondered -- does Coach Wilbur get courted by NCAA programs? I imagine his outstanding success and connection to the Syracuse area recruiting pipeline would make him an asset lots of places.

I've wondered the same thing about Wilbur for years. All the earmarks are there, he checks a lot of boxes and someone please correct me if I am wrong, isn't Coach Wilbur of native descent as well? Another box checking quality if you're looking to bring in the Staats, Sundowns, etc..to play high level DI lacrosse. He's clearly got the connections throughout the US and Canada with the native lacrosse scene.

MY guess is that he gets courted from time to time, but probably also has a few "standing invites" from programs too, should he ever want a change.

Syracuse, Lemoyne and all of the SUNY coaches (among others) know what they are getting when they get a kid from OCC or send a kid to "prep" there. It's a great setup. Those relationships took years to cultivate and the OCC system took years to build.

Why change things if you are well compensated/appreciated and enjoy your job? Unless of course he ever wants a new challenge a'la Paul Wehrum.

Makes sense to me. If he likes what he does and his family is happy, why move away from a situation where you get the best players and kick the crap out of everyone on a regular basis? Sounds good.

I went to the game today and he played just man up. He was injured a few weeks ago and just got healthy,I think today was first game but did play in scrimmages , They used him sparingly but he did have 3 goals today. As good as he is I thought they have 6-7 guys on there offense who are syracuse level guys. Nassau played a very boring brand of lacrosse which slowed the game down and flat out stalled for a lot of the game. Overall a very fun game especially being in the dome and the warmth .

Curious, 2 of the 3 starting D are freshman and OCC lists 5 freshman GK, how did the D and GK look in your opinion? Is that the Achilles if there is one?

There def shut down nassau pretty good for 3 qtrs. Looked to get tired in 4th.Nassau did not run by any guys, they scored off some good ball movement that found an open guy . It was my first time seeing OCC this year, but there d looked really athletic ,goalie looked solid. I do think there young so they will obviously just keep getting better. They do past the looks test though. I think they will naturally give up some goals though due to there style of play.

We played much better than a week ago vs Harford. This is a very good OCC team. The glimpses of Staats we saw will make them even better. I liked what I saw from Nassau though something to build on.
