It seems that every year there is more and more parity among women's D1 teams.

I wouldn't necessarily say that there's "more parity among women's D1 teams". I see 3 levels of serious competition
with huge gulfs among them. I'm seeing the Top 20, the Next 20, and the Remainder. Within each level, yes, there
is more parity, but from one to the next, a big divide. However, on any given day....

The number of girls playing lacrosse and the number of teams on the D1 level is growing. Let's face it, women's lacrosse is highly political on the high school level and I have noticed that some of the best college players aren't necessarily UA high school All Americans. Colleges that have traditionally been good teams are still going for those UA girls leaving a lot of good players out there for the other schools to pick up. Many of the previously great programs have dropped in performance and have been overrated based on historical rankings for the past few years (imho). So yeah, there may be large gaps after the top 20-25 teams, but it used to be that there were 6 great teams and then the rest. Additionally, I think the cost of college has been favorable to the public universities with regard to women's lacrosse. I think Stonybrook, if they can keep their mistakes in check, will give Maryland a good game this year. They are similar teams, mostly home grown local talent who have been playing together for most of their lives.

GW matching their 2017 win totals already. Has not always been pretty but they have improved from last year.

Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but Richmond seems to be dominating the A10 player awards.
Hopefully their stars can help propel them to victory in their next big test: James Madison on March 17.
(They should be able to handle upcoming opponents in Old Dominion and Holy Cross.) Here's the scorecard:
Richmond- 5, St. Joe's- 2, GW- 2, LaSalle- 2, UMass-1, Davidson-1

Wreck,
You're reading way too much into this. The player awards recognize individual performance over 1 or 2 games, and
do not reflect the play of a team. You can have a valuable "steady Eddie" who plays a solid game every time and is
not recognized. You can have a balanced team that spreads out the scoring and has outstanding defensive play, and
no one is recognized. You can have teams that just plain win, and no one player is recognized. Player recognition is
not a "space race" to see which A10 team can garner the most accolades. It's just a formal way to say to a player:
"job well done".

UMass's young defense played strong the entire game. The offense struggled until the last 4 minutes of the game. OSU led until the final three and a half minutes of regulation time when UMass fought through a 3 point deficit with a 3 goal scoring streak which tied it up. With 20 seconds on the clock, OSU scored and had a 1 point lead. OSU won the final draw of the period, but quickly turned it over. UMass got the ball up the field and scored with 1 second left in the game to tie it up. Notable: FIVE yellow cards against OSU. Could have/should have been more.

Final (in OT) UMass 14-Ohio State 13. I saw most of the game, but work kept pestering me until I "accidentally"
shut down my cell. I agree, the UMass offense didn't look so sharp to start the game (only 3 goals in the first half).
They never quit though, and picked it up when it counted. This was a comeback that really showed great team
character. The defense is much improved, and continues to show better technique and positioning than last year.
If the O,the D, and the Draw all gell at the same time, this should be a hard team to beat. In the meantime, until
the D matures and gets stingier, they still gotta score big to win. Next non-conference game is with Cornell, who
might be having a slightly "off" year, but still scored in double digits in 4 of their 5 games.

11 of OSU's 13 goals were free position shots. They were good at the FPS and there isn't much defense can do to stop a FPS. I'm really not a fan of the FPS.

From the accounts, it seems that Mason didn't play their best game, and ran into a seasoned opponent.
Campbell is a pretty good team, and cut their teeth playing 3 tough non-conference games with Duke,
Virginia Tech, and Richmond. According to the box score, these are the stats made the difference:
..............Campbell......Mason
FPS...........1of 2..........3 of 9
Turnovers.....11..............17
Shots..........32..............26
Goals..........14..............11

I watched the Davidson vs Campbell game last year as well as this year. What a difference a year makes. Davidson dominated the game this year except for a few garbage time goals it was a blow out. Last year Campbell won by one goal and there attack was much more balanced. Not sure what happened- too one dimensional with forced shots -made it easy for Davidson. Davidson had more speed and defense was relentless. How did they lose to Mercer crazy year.
