Ridell Onyx or Cascade Pro 7 for safety

Postby Dlaxcoach on Thu Oct 01, 2009 2:59 pm

Looking for some real world advice on which helmet provides the most protection against concussions. The Ridell Onyx or the Cascade Pro 7 or other???

I went with the Riddle last season and no issues! The kids prefer the look of the Pro 7 but as a coach you have to think of safety factor. One team in our area has the pro 7's and they had 8 concussions to our none! that was enough for the new coach there who is a friend of mine and who coached with me last season to switch to the Pro 7. hoped this helped!

My very first helmet, MANY years back was a Riddell, much the same padding system as today. I could take shots (as a goalie) to the head all day long & never feel a thing. Cascade helmets always rattle the head a bit. For all the good that can be said of Cascade, you just can't beat the Riddells for flat-out protection.
