Re: Florida Southern 2012
New to the forum, first post, so forgive me for any mistakes. I just wanted to respond about Jay Kuhn, my son. He is looking forward to going to FSC and helping the team. He is a good leader on the field and a good goalie that will give this team everything he has every game. Savior? No, he would rather be considered a great teammate. He played in the 2a MD conference. In reply to the previous post, Coach Bellamy had put together some pretty tough schedules in the past. We have played the likes of Fallston, Bel Air, North Harford, Winters Mill, etc. every year, and lost most of the time, until this past season. These are very good teams with a lot of great players. We can't control the school size. We have survived these past 4 years with a squad of about 20 kids. A handful played club lax and the rest picked up their sticks on March 1. We have won three regional championships, went to the state championship and lost 5 to 4 to a very good Glen Elg team last year, and lost 6 to 4 to South Carroll in the state semi finals this year. Again, to the previous post, getting to the states regardless of division is not a guarantee. You have to play every game. We will be looking forward to the upcoming season with the Mocs. My son has started his training regiment already and will be ready to go when he arrives on campus. I believe my son will help this team along with every other player on the field. I have always felt chemistry goes along way on a team and it is finding the right mesh of players that makes a team successful, not talent alone. I trust in Coach Ward and look forward to seeing some great lacrosse.

Kuhn is was a great high school goalie. I hope he has a great career at florida souther...that being said, harford county has been a hot bed for division 2 athletes in the south. Have any of them really panned out, and lived up to the hype they came in as freshmen with? Demicco had a great freshmen year so hopefully that will continue, but other then that i can't think of any that was an impact player from that area.
I hope he bucs the trend. Good luck Mocs.

Any bets on the roster size for the fall. 60,70,80. I guess 75 to start and cuts to 55(and only a bus load will go to away games more cuts), to make coach wards team.

Re: Florida Southern 2012
Anybody else really, really tired of hearing about fl southern, Rollins and Tampa?
How about Dowling, limestone, Le Moyne and mercyhurst discussions. When fl southern and tampa can beat friggin Catawba, they will be worthy of all this discussion!

Sorry to hear Coach King is gone. I've seen Rob Williams play quite a bit. Hopefully he can bring his offensive prowess and knowledge down south. As a Stony Brook fan I couldn't stand him when he was shooting for Bingo! Good luck to him.

IMO if the coach has a problem with certain players he should let them know instead of keeping them in the dark. It is a men's league and I am not suggesting holding their hands but there needs to be some communication. That way everyone knows what is going on and it eliminates speculation and rumors.
It's anyone guess who will replace Thompson....there are some good players on the roster and lots of new recruits.
So the disrespecting players comment is more of a lack of communication to players. I guess that is what you are saying?
As far as the team set from Tampa I am not sure I agree at least looking at the attack. It seems there was quite a bit of shuffling and then they eventually got more consistent wins starting a combo of 2 freshman and a Sr.
L - Tampa - Thompson Sr, Brown Jr, Weil Jr,
L - Limestone - Thompson Sr, Gysin So, Sorensen Fr
W - Rollins - Thompson Sr, Weil Jr, Sorensen Fr
L - Mars Hill - Thompson Sr, Brown Jr, Boyle Jr
L - Pfeiffer - Thompson Sr, Gysin So, Sorensen Fr
W - Wingate - Thompson Sr, Sorensen Fr, Demicco Fr
W - Catawba - Thompson Sr, Sorensen Fr, Demicco Fr
L - Queens - Thompson Sr, Gysin So, Sorensen Fr
W - Lenoir Rhyne - Thompson Sr, Sorensen Fr, Demicco Fr
W - Belmont Abbey - Thompson Sr, Sorensen Fr, Demicco Fr
W - Coker - Thompson Sr, Sorensen Fr, Mykle-Winkler Fr
W - FIT - Thompson Sr, Sorensen Fr, Mykle-Winkler Fr
W - St Leo - Thompson Sr, Sorensen Fr, Demicco Fr
W - St Leo - Thompson Sr, Sorensen Fr, Demicco Fr

L - Catawba - Thompson Sr, Sorensen Fr, Demicco Fr
for someone who thinks they really know what they are talking about. you mite want to check the lineups for each game again considering Gysin is not even an attackman in fact he plays defense but hey i could see ward starting him at longstick attack

the roster may have him listed as attack but if you look at the lineup or if you were at the games you would know. like i said just talk to the players or talk to the parents they could fill you in just an observation from a fan of college lax.

Re: Florida Southern 2012
FloLax. I am 400 miles away from the school and I was not at any games. The only thing I can see is box scores. I have a son who is a rising senior looking into playing at the next level and this is a school on his list. The others programs don't have much information here on laxpower. I can only see box scores and read what is posted. If the box score and roster is incorrect I would only know that if someone had pointed it out, so thanks for doing that. If the comments you made about coaching decisions and how athletes are treated have any substance then I was looking for something deeper than just the shots you have taken at the coach. I am sure there are two sides to every story. If my son does pursue his interest in attending then I can go get the other side of the story directly from the coach and make my own decisions. The posters on here don't seem to have much information and I am probably better off looking in other places for what I need.

Re: Florida Southern 2012
Sure looks like a lot of interest in this program....Congrats to Rob Williams, I too hope all the coaches can see all the talent on the team new and old, especially the seniors...a team needs solid senior leadership to be successful. With all the changes in D2 conferences should be an interesting season!
