Lincoln Memorial 2017

New postby SACLaxRat on Thu Dec 29, 2016 5:14 pm

4-10 First Year; 6-6 Second Year. ?-? Third Year.
New facility, quality coaches. Decent schedule for this upcoming year (besides a couple of NAIA teams). Roster shows that they added a good amount of freshman talent to the mix this year and rumor has it have an even better recruiting class next year. Any news on the team? I know the SAC is going to be pretty strong this year with the new coaches, but could this be the RailSplitters' breakout year?

I feel you are 100% accurate on your assessment of this young team. Coach Kuhn has done an outstanding job in recruitment and building a strong team. They are a very athletic team with a lot more depth coming into this season. I feel they are going to shock a lot of teams and will be very competitive in the SAC in the 2017 season. Also next years recruits are a very strong group once again adding a lot more depth to this team. The LMU Railsplitters are on the move in the SAC!!!

I think LM should make their first SAC tournament this year. Lots of good players for the Railsplitters. I don't think they have the depth yet to really challenge LR, Queens or Wingate but that is why they play the games on the field.

Would love to see them play a tougher schedule. Of their OOC games Florida Southern is a good squad, Roberts Wesleyan and FIT are solid, but to still play two MCLA teams in year three is comical.

These rumors have been out there for some time - seem to be centered on basketball. (LMU does not have football).

However, for the jump to happen, a school needs an invitation from a DI conference, and since they do not have football, that limits their possible affliations to join. But certainly upgrading facilities might make them more attractive.

The basketball arena is already better than most D1 facilities. It is an awesome venue.

Like Red said though, they need a conference invite. Rumors are the thought has been shelved for a at least a year though.

If they do move to do D1, they will need some serious upgrades in terms of lacrosse facilities and support. Would hate to see them become another Presbyterian.
