Weekend in Pittsburgh

New postby ClassicCrosse on Thu Mar 23, 2017 7:49 pm

It looks like there are some quality teams participating in Pitts tournament this weekend making for what could be good match ups. Does anyone know where to find a schedule? I understand it has changed a few times as the Pitt schedule maker must be working hard to ensure teams traveling in all get a fair shake. We really enjoy watching these teams compete, thanks!

Hey Classic

Tonight's schedule is
Colorado State vs Penn State at ~6 PM
Colorado State vs Pitt at ~ 10:15 PM or as soon as it can get started following the boy's game vs Oakland

Schedule for Saturday and Sunday is a bit fluid still but all games will get played. As more times get released I will try and get them posted and out so people can follow the twitter feeds or if they're close actually get to the games. Lots of mayhem being caused by Pitt's new indoor facility still not being open but it will be a beauty for next year!! All games will be in the normal indoor facility (Cost Center)

My sources tell me it's 3-3 at half of the Penn State vs Colorado State game.

Tomorrow's games should all be played somewhere between 2 and 10 of that helps but no clue what order yet

Heard Penn State won 6-5

Sounds like it was a defensive battle!!

Sunday games
9 AM Notre Dame vs Colorado State
11:30 AM Notre Dame vs Pitt

The JMU vs Penn State game is getting moved to a different date. JMU starting goalie got a concussion in their AM game against Notre Dame. No backup goalie so a field player stepped in and she got hurt in their afternoon game against Colorado State!!! So they played Pitt with a different girl willing to suit up. Lots of heart and hustle out of them today. Hope everyone heals up quickly

Notre Dame seems to be struggling this season, but someone had mentioned on another thread they were supposed to be really good. Are they playing really strong teams or just not living up to expectations?

This was Notre Dame's first games of the season and they played #2, #6, #14 and a team that after its first games of the season this weekend should also be ranked ... that is a rough way to start the season for ANYBODY.

They are a good team and have been showing steady improvement over the past few years. I would expect them to finish strong with the rest of their schedule. Their game on Thursday against Michigan State will be important for them as far as trying to make the conference tournament. But they really pack their schedule late as opposed to many teams which are virtually done with their seasons they still have 10 games to play!! lots of room for them to grow still

re JMU's troubles in Pittsburgh. So JMU has 2 goalies on roster, but one of them broke her thumb moments before the season opening game against Duke, so the other goalie (my daughter) has been playing all the games this season as the only goalie. She was hit full on in the face mask by literally the first shot on her of the Notre Dame game, but shook it off for a while and finished most of the first half. The ref noticed her reduced play and took her out of the game and she was not cleared for play the rest of the weekend. JMU's team stepped up and had about 5 different girls rotate through the remaining games as goalie, most having never played the position prior to this. It is a testament to the athleticism of all these girls that they were able to do as well as they did this weekend. One of the goalie subs was hit in the knee by a shot in the Colorado game, which finished approx 3 minutes early due to that injury. I have not heard an update on her injuries. I could not be more proud of their dedication to their team and their willingness to step up and do what needs to be done to finish out the weekend. Thanks also to Penn State for recognizing the situation JMU was in and allowing the reschedule of that game to the weekend of April 8. JMU will hopefully have both their goalies and everyone else injured back in active play by that time.

Kudos to JMU! Three games in one day is tough to begin with - but how about when the first game is at 10am, the next game is at 5pm and the last game is at 9pm against the home team? That's a tough schedule that certainly didn't put JMU in an advantageous position - with or without injuries.

Hope your daughter and her teammates are feeling better soon.

Thanks Dominator, looks like they are doing well. My daughter and others are back for a game with UVA (Virginia Club) tonight. They moved this game up to tonight to make room to play Penn State this weekend in JMU's invitational to replace the missed game in Pittsburgh... With Delaware Club, Penn State Club, Virginia Tech Club, JMU Club, Virginia Club, Maryland Club UNC Club, and Towson Club, it looks to be a good weekend of lacrosse in Harrisonburg, VA. A significant portion of MAWLL Chesapeake and MAWLL DelMarVa will be there.
