Why aren't people livid about what Active is doing to the Forum? Is it because it hasn't actually happened yet? i.e. It was announced but... Let's see what actually happens. People, myself included seemed to genuinely enjoy this Forum, there is no other Forum like it, and... People seem unfazed. I don't get it...

PI.

Lots of FAIL to go around on this.

Most people aren't paying attention because it's the offseason.

Could be a big hole here in January.

other than the nasty color scheme - what have they done (or are they about to do)?

maybe we're just not outraged because we don't know to be....

A tad late to the "thank you party" - but heartfelt nonetheless.

This site is and has been a great resource to the entire lacrosse community. Heck it has become a community unto itself.

dan and baldo being gone is a good example. my understanding is that the owners are done taking care of the forum. they're not pulling the plug (yet) but they're done taking care of it. as i understand it.

I guess if they do pull the plug, two team-oriented lacrosse forums that I know of are
Virginia at thesabre http://chat.virginia.sportswar.com/message_board/lacrosse/
Syracuse at syracusefan.com https://syracusefan.com/forums/syracuse-lacrosse-board.4/
Of course, you have to tread lightly where the home team is concerned. ( UVa fans have gotten rather sensitive in the past few years and seem to have chased most opposing fans off.)

I'm late to the party to send along a big thanks to Dan and to Baldo. I've really enjoyed Laxpower, and this community.

For me, it's been nonstop shopping. Kids playing in the Ivies, Liberty League and NESCAC. Keeping track of prep and high school teams. A lot of knowledge and insight here, and plenty of laughs over the years.

The future doesn't sound so bright. I'll have my fingers crossed!

Thanks again, guys, for all of what you accomplished! Great stuff!

So what is the best idea moving forward, to assure Lax Power stays alive?

That's indeed the right question at this point, along with the underlying question of what was the reason for the change? I don't think that's been fully explained, just the current status of the decision.

I am pretty certain that I am among the longest-tenured Laxpower members that is still an active poster. Others are still around but with far less presence these days.

I have a printout somewhere in my files of the members of the listserv at SU in the late 1990s. Swami directed some of us to a new website, Laxpower, that he thought would be better suited for our discussions and shenanigans. Remember that at that time, GUI was just a few years old and the Internet was not nearly as prevalent. People that I got to meet in-person from that era include ketch, sixpackman, The Ivyman, bob, ColumbiaBlueBlack. WOMBAT and I met a couple years after that.

Anyone else remember the 1998 World Games at Homewood when maddog was providing online game write-ups faster than FIL? She and I later met for drinks and dinner in Annapolis after that episode when I was in the DC area on business. It turned out she was a Loyola grad who was working at Hopkins at the time.

I don't recall whether Dakota Dan or Mike Black, formerly with WEOS in Geneva, has any of the archives from way back. It would fun to see who were the registered users circa 1999.

After I retired in 2003 and moved much closer to Homewood Field, I expanded my network of Laxpower friends due to running a picking contest for about 45 people for 5 years. A partial list of LPers I have met since 2003: molo, a fan, the knees family, artful dodger, LadyLaker, 2pontificate, minkhoo, youngred, sore+old.

I hope the forums survive but my conversations over the last year with Baldo are not very encouraging. I plan to be here as long as it is available.

It has been a lot of fun. No Twitter account or Facebook for me, just Laxpower. I do accept email through Laxpower.

Enjoy the holiday season. :occasion-partyblower: :occasion-santa: It may well be the final one at Laxpower.

As usual, I'm a day late and a dollar short, but MANY HEARTFELT THANKS to (Dakota) Dan and George (Baldo) for their many selfless contributions to this wonderful forum over the decades!

And now to the future, which is bleak.

Forum: It is likely that the link for new registrations will be available infrequently, if at all.

This means the forum is being abandoned. Current users will (likely) continue to be able to use it, but there will be no new users, and (likely) little or no moderation.

This is a real shame. I have to assume (since I have no actual info) that attempts were made to save the forum. One possible course of action would be to merge it with the existing (but largely moribund) forum at IL: http://forums.insidelacrosse.com

Failing that, the rest of us should consider migrating there.

Thank you very much to George and Dan. They have been a dear friend to high school coaches around the country. They will sorely be missed.
