Another great lacrosse game! On the edge of my seat. Every face-off, every clear, every penalty is so key now.

Not our best game, but good enough!

Great game, Syracuse. Everyone played their hearts out. Best game of the weekend, IMHO.

BEAT MARYLAND!!!

Game played with by far the most intensity of any of the opening weekend games (Hop only played that way for 15 minutes). Maryland-Cornell should be a good one.

Entertaining game but Syracuse's mismanaged offense at game's end could not even produce a decent shot in over a minute's time - this right after allowing the gamewinner by Cornell on EMO after the boneheaded penalty by Solomon, 30 yards behind the ball right in front of the near side official.

Cornell, likewise, better clean things up against Maryland next week although they certainly showed they could handle the Teat shut-off much better than last time.

Duke, Cornell, and Hopkins at Annapolis next weekend. Kind of like a 2007 Final Four reunion.

But this time, it will be Hopkins that has to play Duke in the first game ...

Didn't feel to good going into this game but Syracuse surprised me in the 1st half, thought they did a lot of good things. Cornell made some solid adjustments though, was really impressed with their physicality as the game went on. I thought Mellon more than held his own when he wasn't shutting Teat off so it will be interesting once again to now see how Maryland game plans against him this week.

Can't imagine anyone left the Dome feeling as if they didn't get their money's worth, what a game!!! Well, maybe not so much for the feint of heart, I guess. Classic Cuse-Cornell, an intense game played by some mighty fine players, despite being north of the Mason Dixon line. Well done Cornell, congrats and good luck the rest of the way. Fortunately, the weather in Annapolis doesn't look a whole lot different than here for the week, no real advantage for the Marylanders for one of those zapping sun/heat days that we northerners just aren't used to. That'll be a factor when all is said and done though.
Hats off to Nick Mellen, that kid is one heckuva D man, and we've got two more years of the Mellen-Teat match up. This meeting goes to Mellen, he really took Teat out of the game. More than just with the face guarding, even when he did get the ball, Mellen let him do nothing, stripping him of the ball a couple of times and rendering him to pretty much a non factor. To the point where he wasn't even bringing the ball into play when the opportunity to do so presented itself. To the CU fan who looked at me like I was the biggest idiot on the face of the earth when I said, "Don't hold onto the ball too long, Mr. Teat, cuz Mellen will take it away from you", what say ye now?
Stats, stats, stats, and more stats. I sometimes get a kick out of the stats folks cuz I see it as there being only one that matters, goals. Look at the stats of this game.....stats boys sure would think Cuse had won it til they got to the goals part.
Congrats again, Big Red, and good luck.

The issue is that when you shut off Teat, there are 5 or 6 other Big Red players who, when hot, are as effective as 98% of any NCAA lacrosse players in the game today.

...and especially deadly on EMO where they had all sorts of looks 5 on 4 and cashed in multiple times. It will be interesting to see what Maryland does with Teat.

No argument, it's now 5 v 5 and a lot more green is open, that's the risk. I don't think I would have done it for that reason, too many other good players (not restricted to Cornell) at the D 1 level to give them that much green to operate in. You also take that D man out of the flow of the game and I wouldn't want to do that with Mellen. My point wasn't the face guarding, it was the job Mellen did when Teat did have the ball, Mellen owned him on this day and the D held Cornell to ten goals. You gotta win those games. IMO, the game was more won by the CU D and GK than the O. Cuse O wasn't potent enough to beat the CU D, which was most clearly evident in the last minute or so when Cuse couldn't get to the cage. Cuse scored 2 goals in the second half.....aint gonna win that way.

Mellen did the same thing in Ithaca this year. When he had the luxury of 100pct focus on JT51, he did really well. You've got 2 more years of Mellen. He's an excellent defender.
