Hmmm, sounds like we'd need a Maryland-JHU re-match to settle this little tiff... but then, I'm hoping that said re-match doesn't happen.

On the other hand, Maryland looked awful good in the 2nd half.
Maryland looked a lot better coming back from their halftime deficit than Johns Hopkins did.

Yikes, defensive much?

Yep, if you want to post like QK, you are in for it.
Maryland's 12-9 win over Rutgers was pretty nice, and beating Hopkins (the #5 seed),even in 3 ots, at Homewood was good too.

My general feeling is that UMd has been a bit banged up. (Of course, Hopkins mashing up Kelly in the last game of the regular season didn't help much). I think these two weeks have been a good chance for the Terps to recuperate. The Robert Morris game was close, but not quite as physical as many of the Big Ten games. I thought Kelly was playing a bit better in that game. Another positive for the Terps is that Henningsen has been recovering from an early season injury, and has looked pretty good lately.

Tillman and his staff can devise a great game plan, no doubt. However, on this day, 1st year and soon to be no longer interim Head Coach Pete Milliman and his staff will have their team prepared and will make appropriate in-game adjustments. Tied at halftime, 5-5, I envision the Big Red’s 5 on 5 offense executing beautifully with cameo appearances by JT51 to steal the show. JT gets 3 & 2 and Cornell wins 12-8. Christian Knight and the Cornell D lock up Maryland’s highly touted offense to make another BR trip to the game’s vaunted Final Four on Memorial Weekend.

A lot of talk about lock off of JT51 however I think this game will come down to FO's, goal tending and shot selection/shooting efficiency. A lot of pressure on Cornell's freshman backup FOGO Tria Luca, he has Played tough in the last three games, all win or go home games.

RedIvy, I agree that shot selection will be important. My guess is that Tillman will slow the game down, try to tire the Red defense and starve the Red's offense of possessions.

Md will have their hands full making sure Petterson doesn't get the ball on the island. He can finish inside a phone booth.

Tough work to shut off a feeder like JT and tie up an inside finisher like Petterson.

Admittedly, I haven't seen that much of Cornel, who can finish at 15+ and the hash marks to stretch the defense.

What's really impressing me is how many fans have joined this thread wishing Cornell well and saying they're rooting for the Big Red. In part these fans are from other Ivies, and in part it is because Cornell is the underdog to the #1 team. I get this. But in large part it also is because this Cornell team plays a gritty yet beautiful style of lacrosse: a surgical offense coupled with smart, quick defense. It's a style of lacrosse that must be what the Creator intended the game to be in the twenty-first century.

Very gratifying that Cornell is not only already playing in the Great Eight, but also that its style of play and approach to the game is the most exciting and beautiful.

Go Red!

Ye Olde: Have you been looking into Smokey Joe's crystal ball, or channeling your inner Poor Richard?

EW: On one post, you noted the heat. I recall Richie had some lighter weight uniforms made for the Streak teams, and the 2013 squad added new Cascade helmets made for the heat. I don't know what's applicable with this year's uniforms. Given the amount of gear worn under the uniforms that's shown in the pictures, the outer uniforms may be quite light.

Will the hot team sustain the momentum and upset the higher seed, or will the team that has consistently been at or near the top all season prevail? Have Terp fans managed to forget the taunt of "rough 'em up, f--- 'em up, go CU" that echoed throughout Maryland stadium a few years back?

Especially Maryland. Cornell dominated possession in the first and had nothing to show for it.
