Yale gave Albany a clinic on lacrosse today. Both sides of the ball.

Elis are big and athletic and now seem to match all that with mental toughness and killer instinct. They started fast out of the gate and kept the pedal to the metal for 60 minutes.

They will be a tough out for either Duke or Maryland.

Albany is vulnerable when they don't dominate time of possession. Irelan did his job today, but Yale D and ground balls doomed the Danes.

CONGRATULATIONS TO YALE, they were beyond impressive in every facet of today’s game!!! Although my heart was with the Bulldogs, I never imagined the Eli would win so overwhelmingly, defeating an extremely good Albany team (one clearly deserving of a Final Four berth and of several of weeks’ #1 rankings). No one knows who will oppose Yale on Memorial Day, however, whether it’s the Terps or my Blue Devils, they will face a daunting challenge.

Congratulations to Albany for a great season.

And all hail, Yale. I will be rooting for the Elis on Monday. I think they can beat both of the excellent teams on the other side of the bracket.

Two worthy opponents. Yale's 7 goal start just became tough for Albany to overcome. Yale also did a good job of controlling the tempo throughout. However, with Albany's offense the game never seemed in Yale's hands until the last 5-6 minutes. Congrats to Albany for a very fine season and best to Yale in the final.

Don't disrespect the '83 Yale championship lacrosse team . . . 1883, that is, but hey, a win's a win . . .

Seeing that attendance number is 30,616 today.

Zactly! Danes came out really tight too, Eli's looked more at ease, the day didn't overwhelm them. Played with confidence, smooth, sharp, crisp...Danes not so much.
Well done, Yale, congrats.

Not sure what to make of this, good or bad, but for the first time I can recall there was no article in today's Sunday NYT sports section on yesterday's action in Foxboro.

Finals: Women vs. Men

New postby CPALax on Sun May 27, 2018 2:03 pm

Watching the D1 women’s final, and looks like a great game but modestly attended. The men’s final should be a barn burner as well with 30k people at Foxboro. This got me thinking about women, men, and title 9.

Does anyone know how many total girls and boys lacrosse players there are currently in the US?

And, how many total D1 roster spots for both women and men?

Is there an equitable number of D1 slots for total numbers of players?

I get the point of title 9 but you get the distinct impression that lacrosse is suffering on the men’s side because of this and of course because of the large football rosters.

Sure would be great to see D1 programs at BC, JMU, Florida/SEC, Stanford/Cal/PAC10, etc etc etc etc

Even pointing you to the text of the US Code behind Title IX without further comment might be water cooler material, but I like to live on the edge:
