Only ten are allowed or I would have listed everry team in the county (my apologies if a favorite was left off the list) ...

Thanks for participating. I was surprised not to see at least one vote for Severn. But, while I personally would like to see the Falcons go all the way this year (and stay on top the whole time), I am the first to admit that polls like this mean little if anything.

"I am the first to admit that polls like this mean little if anything."

I disagree. I think this poll means that the response included 6 SP fans, 2 SR fans, 2 BN fans, 1 ST M fan, 1 AN fan, 1 Spalding fan, and 1 very optomistic Chesapeake fan. :character-spongebobdance:

I encourage optimistic fans and I would have enjoyed seeing a few votes for all of the schools listed. Maybe I should do a poll like: "Which AA school do you like the best?"

Somebody pointed out to me privately that I should have listed Annapolis Area Christian School. I doubt whether it would have changed anything if I did include them among the ten teams listed. I guess that I could say I put AACS at #11 ( ... but I did not think of it that way).

Who will be the top teams this year with all the club teams available?
Will the number of club teams ever outnumber the number of high school teams?
Nice list of signings from AACounty for college lacrosse in Capital today.

Agree.......great players and outstanding students.
Add the following:
Chelsea Rowe StM - Cornell
Courtney Tomchik BN - PENN
Looks like some AACO rivalries will still be intact.

Looks like Annapolis may not have been included in the Capital article. I believe the following Panthers are also committed:

Jodi Cumberpatch - Georgetown
Chelsea Lanzoni - Vanderbilt
Ali Brandenburg - Villanova
Alex Van Horn - Washington & Lee

Congratulations to these girls for committing to such fine colleges! After all these years, Knowledge is Still Good!

2010 Starting Positions for the Top 10 HS Girls Teams

2010 Starting Positions for the Top 10 HS Girls Teams in Anne Arundel County

I am basing this list on the 2009 results recorded by Laxpower. For this reason, I am indicating 2009 Laxpower rankings. The only teams that were "tight clustered" in the rankings were 5, 6, and 7.
1) Severna Park (Laxpower #17)
2) Broadneck (#27)
3) St. Mary's (#34)
4) South River (#60)
5) Archbishop Spaulding (#73)
6) Annapolis (#76)
7) Severn (#78)
8 ) Arundel (#165)
9) Chesapeake (#293)
10) Southern (#756)

11) AACS (#767)

NOTE: There are a total of 2362 high school teams listed on Laxpower. As a group (top to bottom), Anne Arundel did extremely well.

Thoughts for 2010:
Severna Park - Without Lloyd in goal, can they be as strong? Mata looked good this summer. Carin will have this team ready. They always find a way to win.
Ballard, Kiser, Lloyd and Gardner are the go to players.
Broadneck - Strong senior class with Thorton, Tomchik and Eschelman. Solid junior goalie Burns. They will be in the hunt.
St. Marys - Always have depth but the publics are gaining ground (due to economy or so many club teams).
South River - Griffin will be hard to stop. Top freshman class and some may contribute early. Glannell leads the defense.
Spalding - Goalie got experience last year. Hoyes will lead offense.
Annapolis - Best senior class in a while. Lanzoni has speed and Cumberpatch is tough to defend. This is a team that you have to be ready for as Broadneck
found out last year.
Severn - 2 top notch goalies and speedy Carroll will be stronger than last year.

Only 3 months to go.

In my opinion, the ground has already been gained. In the last five years St. Mary's has played four games against an Anne Arundel County public school team. The Saints won two and lost two. They lost the last two. Last year St. Mary's did not play any Anne Arundel County public school teams.

St. Mary's remains one of the better schools in the county. But it does not dominate at least one other private school (maybe two) and it does not dominate all of the publics.
