College Transfer Questions?

New postby C3P093 on Thu Aug 18, 2011 10:10 am

If I am a freshman at a Division 1 school how would I go about transferring to another division 1 school? Should I contact all schools I am interested in? I don't want to show any disrespect to my coach. I'm just looking in to other options in my future.

IF DI CLUB TEAM, YOU CAN LEAVE SCHOOL NO QUESTIONS....

If DI NCAA program...
You need to get a release. (coach doesn't have to know)
I would recommend you sit and talk with your coach. Let him or her know it's not the right fit for you.

Easiest way... go to your athletic compliance office.

Need written permission from your current school to talk a new school.

Things to think about...
Purpose to transfer for education and career goals (need to apply and be admitted into new school)
If you are academically eligible to play (credits/semesters)
Right fit athletically (going to make team)
Inter-conference transfer agreements (may have to sit a year)

Hopefully you are looking to transfer to another school that was recruiting you and have been there on an official visit.
You already had a relationship with that "new" coach or players from the team.

Good luck.

Lax Professor- have you ever heard of an Educational Exchange Exception for a player to be able to transfer and play right away without sitting for a year in residence?
