Note about Private Messages

New postby DakotaDan on Tue Dec 21, 2004 4:33 pm

If you send another user (including us) a private message, note the following information from the User Guide:

When you send a PM, the message goes to your Outbox. It remains in the Outbox until the recipient visits his/her Inbox, at which point it is moved from your Outbox to their Inbox. While the message remains in your Outbox you may edit or delete your post if you like. The message remains in your control until it is received.

What this means (among other things) is that if you remove the message from your Outbox before the intended recipient gets it, it's toast. One of you sent me a PM recently, and I received the e-mail notification, but it was gone by the time I checked.

So is that the only way that a pm can get lost?

I got a PM e-mail message but nothing in the inbox. Is there anything wrong I might have done on the receiving end?
