Herk will be lucky if they win the conference let alone region 3. They haven't come within 15 goals of OCC in two years.

Agreed. H.V.C.C. has won the (Mountain Valley) "conference" 2 out of the last 3 years. But who knows, the new head coach maybe bringing a different energy to the program. As for the O.C.C. thing; it wasnt too long ago (2008) where Herkimer upset the Lazers during the regular season (5 goal victory) then went on and lost to them in the region 3 championship by 6 goals.

2009 22-6 loss to OCC regular season; 18-7 Loss in Region 3 championship

2010 33-5 loss to OCC regular season; 28-7 Loss in Region 3 semifinals

It has been less than 2 years since the Generals have came within 15 goals of the Lazers; the other 3 scores just make it (and 2008 for that matter) seem a distant memory.

Any upcoming scrimmages for O.C.C., Herk, Essex, A.A.C.C, Monroe, etc?

It seems like OCC is going to be real nasty again and should be the region 3 champ. The two on LI will battle. Region XX seems to be open. Essex is the early favorite but Howard, CCBC, and AAC always compete.
Question, I pose today to the JUCO faithful- How do you think NOVA(aka. N VA CC) will fair this season? While I believe that they are still in a "entry/probationary phase" and not eligible for playoffs, are they capable of winning some games this year vs region XX's best?

I could be wrong, but I don't think so. At least not this year.

For even some of the best coaches who have recently built or turned programs around it took them a couple years to get the ball rolling.
Wilbur at Onondaga and Burke at Howard (now Essex) come to mind.

Unless NOVAs doing some crazy recruiting- digging up D1 transfers and HS AAs,
Essex, Howard and AACC are probably too strong for a new program.

Word has it that NOVA beat D3 Shenandoah University in a scrimmage today. I didnt see the game myself just heard about it from a couple friends. I know its just a scrimmage but maybe they will be better than some people think.

Without being the "Debbie Downer" lets just say Shenandoah isn't the strongest D3 program.
However, looking at the positives, it's still impressive given that NOVA's program is so new.
And as a juco, It's always nice to beat a four year school that should have more experienced and older players!

nassau beats essex. great win by nassau. hate to say it but it looks like karma came back to bite essex. maybe theyll take there starters out when up 20 goals from now on and cut down on the showboating!

Not sure what you are talking about Al6000. Maybe a disgruntled fan of one of the "blown out" teams? Every time I've seen Essex play they have been up big at the half and didn't score much in the 2nd at all. If you look at their stats, their back-ups all have alot of points in those blowouts games. If anything, the games I've seen they should be congratulated for not running the score up like some of the other JUCO programs. Congrats to nassau on a great win.

behind the back passes, slappin hands with kids on the sidelines (while on the field)? leaving your starters inti ll the 3rd quarter while up by twenty goals? the game i watched the "backups" didn come in till 5 minutes into the 4th quarter. i dont know if your from nova or what but you obviously arent watching the same games i am. i was surprised by burke thats all im saying.

Al, I think you are completely off base. What game, specifically, are you talking about? I haven't seen all their games, but I've seen some of the recent one's, and both games I saw they dialed it back as much as possible in the 2nd half. You are upset about behind the back passes and high fives? Wow, just wow. I looked at their stats like someone above said and it's pretty obvious their starters don't have nearly the amount of points in blowout games as some other teams.

Also, Essex has had lop sided wins, but it doesn't seem like they're using their 'top-talent' to inflate game scores or stats. The link above has this season stats.

This season, each team has this many scorers in the top 25.

OCC: has 5
Howard: has 4
Genesee: has 3
Mercyhurst NE: has 3
Monroe: has 2
Finger Lakes: has 2
Essex: has 2

Essex might score a lot during games, but their third top scorer is 42nd out of the top 50. Hopefully their backups guys can score a lot today or Howard will be a larger challenge than Essex thinks.

I drove past Essex from the beltway tonight and saw 22-8 on the scoreboard with about 6 minutes left in the fourth.

BTW, In general the MD juco athletic staffs are thin and I've found that many update the MDjuco website before they get tot he NJCAA.org site.

Try www.MDjuco.org for (a little) more in depth stats for the MD kids.

But also as a FYI, team records are usually up to date, but the stats may be behind for some kids if a team accidentally skipped submitting for a week.
